Were you born with microtia / anotia - incompletely developed ear?

Children or adults with microtia or anotia often cannot hear very well with their affected ear. Conventional hearing aids are not effective as they do not fit very well in these children. BAHA - bone anchored hearing aids, are excellent for this group of children or adults. Hearing is completely restored with this device.

I am a 34 year old mother who was born with microtia. At the time of my birth our family doctor reccomended that I not go into surgery because it would be dangerous. During high-school, I brought up the subject again to my family doctor and he said that I should live with what I have. I was very disappointed in his comment and never researched microtia until now. Now I am ready to have this surgery. I've contacted a doctor in the mainland and sent pictures of my ear. The surgery will cost 11, 000 so I am working on fundraising for the money and getting a job this summer to pay for costs. I am also going to Graduate school at the same time.
